About
Paul Kavanagh is an award winning designer and animator, with over 20 years broadcast industry experience.
He joined the BBC in 1995 as their first in-house CGI animator and stayed for 10 years working on a wide variety of projects across the full spectrum of BBC output and external commissions. Notable projects included channel idents for Disney Channel & UKTV, titles for the Winter Olympics and MOTD. Paul served as Animation and Design Consultant on the first two seasons of BBC Children’s landmark drama series ‘Shoebox Zoo’ and led a successful re-brand of CBBC Channel. Moving on from the BBC in 2005, Paul joined Condor Digital in Soho as Design Director / Senior Animator, working on everything from BBC2 and BBC SPORT branding to pop promo’s and commercials.
In 2007 he set up Paul Kavanagh Studio Ltd and recent credits include branding for National Geographic, NED2 & NED3, NRK & GINX, titles for ITV News and the BBC’s FA Cup coverage, commercials for Bloomberg and Nokia, and promo trails for ESPN. For the past 11 years, Paul has created and developed the visual identity and on-air package for BBC Sport’s flagship programmes Match of the Day and Match of the Day 2, including special coverage for the FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euros. For the last few years, Paul Kavanagh Studio has also designed the programme branding for Football Fucus, Final Score and the Premier League Show. Other recent projects include creating broadcast toolkits for The Emirates FA Cup and the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup.
He regularly lectures at Universities and has been on the judging panel for several prestigious awards, inc. Royal Television Society (RTS) and British Animation Awards (BAA)
